Beacon Puzzle Privacy Policy
Effective: 2026-05-17
This Privacy Policy explains how Aaron Jacowitz ("Developer," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Beacon Puzzle mobile application (the "App"). By using the App you consent to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
(a) Information you provide. We do not require an account to use the App. We do not directly collect your name, email, phone number, address, or other personal identifiers unless you voluntarily provide them by contacting us.
(b) Game data stored on your device. The App stores game progress and preferences locally on your device using your device's standard application storage. This information includes: completed practice levels by category; your current Hint balance; your Unlimited mode personal best; your Daily Challenge statistics (current streak, longest streak, total daily puzzles solved, and the date of your most recent daily completion); your theme preference (light or dark); your sound-enabled preference; and small flags that record whether you have seen the rules screen, the tutorial, the App Tracking Transparency pre-prompt, and certain first-time guidance messages. This information does not leave your device and is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
(c) Purchase data. When you make an in-app purchase (e.g., a Hint pack), the transaction is handled by Apple Inc. through the Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment-card information. Apple may share with us aggregated or limited transaction information (such as the SKU purchased and a transaction identifier) so that we can deliver the Hints you purchased. Apple's handling of your information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
(c-i) Purchase entitlement service. We use RevenueCat (operated by RevenueCat, Inc.) as a service provider to validate receipts from the Apple App Store and to record whether you are entitled to the Hints you purchased. RevenueCat receives the App Store receipt for your transaction along with an anonymous installation identifier generated by the RevenueCat SDK. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, payment-card information, or Apple ID. RevenueCat's processing of this information on our behalf is governed by the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
(d) Advertising data. The App uses Google AdMob (operated by Google LLC) to serve advertisements, including rewarded video ads that grant you free Hints. AdMob may collect information such as your device identifier (the iOS Identifier for Advertisers / IDFA, subject to Apple App Tracking Transparency consent), IP address, coarse location derived from IP, device model, operating system version, and information about your interaction with ads (impressions, clicks, completion). Google's data practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. We do not control and are not responsible for Google's data practices.
(d-i) Personalized vs. non-personalized ads. If you grant tracking permission through the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt, AdMob may serve personalized ads using your IDFA. If you deny permission or your device does not support tracking, AdMob will serve only non-personalized ads, which do not rely on a persistent device identifier for targeting. You can change your decision at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
(e) Diagnostic data. We may receive aggregated, anonymous crash and performance data from Apple if you opt in to share diagnostics with developers through iOS Settings. This data does not personally identify you.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
(a) operate, maintain, and improve the App; (b) deliver and verify in-app purchases; (c) serve and measure advertisements (via our advertising partners); (d) detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; (e) comply with legal obligations; and (f) respond to your inquiries.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
(a) with service providers acting on our behalf, including ad networks, analytics providers, and Apple (for in-app purchase processing), under contractual obligations to protect your information; (b) to comply with law, legal process, or governmental requests; (c) to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Developer, our users, or others, including to enforce these Terms; and (d) in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
4. Your Choices & Controls
(a) Advertising controls. On iOS, you can limit ad tracking through Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and you can opt out of personalized ads from Apple through Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
(b) Local data. You can clear locally stored game data by uninstalling the App. Note that Hints and progress are tied to the device and do not currently sync across devices.
(c) Communications. We do not send marketing emails. If we ever introduce optional communications, you will be able to opt in or unsubscribe at any time.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, contact us at the address below.
6. Your Rights (California, EEA/UK, and Other Regions)
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights under applicable privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), and the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"). These may include the right to:
(a) know what personal information is collected about you; (b) request access to or a copy of your personal information; (c) request correction or deletion of your personal information; (d) opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and (e) not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond as required by applicable law. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of users we know to be under 16 without affirmative authorization.
7. Data Retention
Game data stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App. Information held by Apple in connection with in-app purchases is retained according to Apple's policies. Information collected by advertising partners is retained per their respective policies.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Users
The App is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, you understand and consent to the transfer of your information to, and storage and processing in, the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Third-Party Services
The App relies on services provided by Apple Inc. (App Store and In-App Purchase), RevenueCat (purchase entitlement management), and Google LLC (AdMob advertising). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control those third parties and are not responsible for their practices.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective" date above will be updated when changes are made. Material changes will be communicated within the App or, where reasonable, prior to taking effect. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
